Budapest

Exploring a city for more than a week can be a real treat. “The pearl of the Danube” or as more well known by Budapest, is the charming capital of Hungary. From the nightlife to the baths, the food, the architecture. Budapest has so much more to offer. I fell in love with the large quantity of thermal bath options, the contrast of historical buildings, the people I’ve met and the marvelous time I’ve spent roaming the streets of Budapest. If you need a vacation away don’t hesitate to visit this gorgeous city.

Florence

Many of the main attractions of Tuscany can be found in the lovely city of Florence. This city is mostly known for its art, architecture and food; and no wonder, what the fuzz is all about! Firenze can contain all stereotypical Italian traditions in one place! Everything is there! The lovely Italian streets, the traditional food, the sun and of course, all the statues, paintings, churches and so much more art to absorb! I truly recommend it to stop by and just enjoy its relaxed pace and beautiful sights. Italy is one of those places that can make you fall in love instantly. It can be from the food, the beautiful squares, the fashion, the people, the language. Every time I leave an Italian city behind, I always leave with a smile and of course, a promise to return.

Rome

If there’s one iconic European city that combines history and art it is for sure the wonderful capital of Italy: Rome. On my first day exploring the city, my expectations were already above the clouds. The contrast between the trees with the maroon, red, brown of the buildings. Full of rich Roman history and winding streets that can lead you to most unexpected places. Personally, it’s not a surprise that I’m a fan of Italian culture and of course, that implies the food. Every dish in Rome can be a dream come true if you just look carefully where you’re at in the city. Besides following advice from locals I also used the CityMaps2Go app. Truly recommended to find the best ice-cream. The monuments speak for themselves, especially if you studied them during high school. Last but not least, the nightlife is really something to be experienced in Rome. The urban lifestyle of the city is so much more than meets the eye. Now, to finish this post, with no more words or adjectives, I …

Out of my comfort zone

I just got off the phone with my cousin who I haven’t spoken in two years. The conversation we had reminded me why I left my home-country. And also why we don’t talk much. You see, we have different goals in life. I’ve been working abroad over the past few years and facing new challenges almost every single day. My cousin never lived outside his village. He keeps telling me to “come home”, “find a job here”, “stay here”. To be honest, these words don’t warm my heart. I tried so many times to explain to him that the world outside is so much more than stereotypes, monuments and sunny spots. The world has so much more to offer: home sickness, uncomfortable places and a learning process about who you are. Through all these years I haven’t found a place where I would make myself a home so instead of chasing it, I’ve started to move around. I decided to live with other people, to share stories, to open myself to new possibilities and realize …

The way I travel

I get questions about my traveling habits more frequently that I would like to. So I’ve decided to write this post to clarify things (and then to send it to people who ask a lot of questions). First of all: there are beautiful mornings waiting for you in every corner of every place you visit. That being said, there is also amazing people you can meet. It was in this spirit that I got involved with the Couchsurfing community back in 2011. Since then every time I travel with friends, we always choose couchsurfing first before anything else. We love meeting random people and also discover new places through their knowledge of the city. It’s a unique experience and completely changes how you travel. But what happens if there’s no host available or all hostels are expensive?! You can always check Airbnb. Read the reviews beforehand and then book any type of room that you would like. Enjoy a pleasant stay in a local home for a more accessible price. Worth it. That’s basically how …
